Olympic Success, But Money Was No Object

Since Beijing the British were under huge pressure to create the perfect Olympics, it certainly went to plan and ahead of schedule. The truth is that money was thrown at the whole project. Whatever the cost to guarantee success, it was spent. Figures released by the National Audit Office shows that bonus performance payments ran to a whopping £647 Million pounds for all Olympic projects. These payments were happily promised and contractual too for good measure, add to this a very generous building schedule and nothing could or would go wrong.

It certainly didn't go wrong how could it, tax payers would pay to make it all very easy and expensive too. Privately Conservative ministers were shocked at the wasteful spending set up by the previous labour government which could never be clawed back or rectified in time. Today we publish a detailed infographic on where all the money went. Thankfully the next London Olympics is not due for another 75 years.
